Bright and early last Saturday morning, a team from Mississippi arrived over an hour late, but I had plenty to do to get ready for them so that worked out well. We set out as a five vehicle caravan and after driving through the toll booth, I tried to accelerate but the truck would not go over 10 mph for some reason. My right trailer tail-light was broken so the emergency blinkers would declare to an unknowing world that I wanted to merge left (not something I wanted to do with the presidential elections coming up) so I saw it as a blessing to have this caravan behind me that could warn the masses speeding up from our rear. We slowing processed up and then swiftly down the mountain (Mississippi river bridge). One way God provided was that one of the suburbans following me had a hitch, so after we took the first exit I was able to quickly put the trailer full of tools on their SUV and off to the gutting site we flew. Not only that but I had Mary's phone number for whom we were gutting a house, so I was able to tell her we would be late. So yeah, it just made me happy to see how God worked it out. It all seemed more like an adventure then an inconvenience.

The team did a lot of work in Mary's house and they asked me to help give out gift baskets in her neighborhood which was fun. We also went to help Cathy finish her house and there was some miscommunication, so she waited 4 hours before we arrived, but it seemed like the Lord even worked this out, for we managed to get everything she needed to get done and afterwards she called me crying, sharing how thankful she was. The whole day, I felt so alive, like I was doing something that He created me to do, it was a delight and joy to serve.

On Sunday afternoon we helped with a worship service in the 9th ward and did food distribution. After this I watched God provide for us again. While I was at church that morning the team went out and tried to find homeless to give blankets and sleeping to but failed to find any. So when the team was suppose to head back home, their leader shared with me how he did not want to go back with all that stuff that they wanted to give out. I was at a lost, cause I knew it would be a nightmare trying to lead 4 vehicles and try to find parking in the French Quarter, after all of this there still being a possibility that no homeless would be there. So I ended up leading them to the New Orleans Mission to see if they could donate the stuff to them, though the mission was closed, there was parking and the perfect amount of homeless folks hanging around there for the youth to give the stuff out to. It made my heart smile to watch.
