A college group from West Virgina!
I have been up really late every night the last several days, so I am pretty beat. I am taking it easy this fine Saturday evening, and I'm look forward to the following laid-back 9-5 type week.
Ministering without saying a word.
A lot of African-American men love to preach, so people who are willing to listen is truly a ministry to them. Among the sermons I have heard from homeless people, this man sharing with the team was the best, the things he shared were very heart felt and passionate, He had a amazing knowledge of scripture and a wisdom I rarely hear expressed.
It is hard to know how to do justice when communicating something meaningful, but I'll try.

One morning I was giving the Florida college group a tour of the lower 9th ward, and while we went on a prayer walk a lady named Letha was driving bye and stopped to asked us to come to her FEMA trailer and pray for here. So after the tour we drove up to her home and had a long prayer time with her. She is one of the few people living in the lower 9th which is pretty laid bare, but for the cinder blocks where house once stood. When she came back after Katrina her house was on top of her car and for two and a half years the trauma has stayed fresh. When we talked with her, she was in deep depression and could not help but dwell on the negative.

Last week after giving the West Virginians a tour, I took them over to meet and pray with Letha. Afterwards she insisted that we come over the next night for a crawfish boil and B-B-Q ribs. So we got to experience 4 hours of premium New Orleans hospitality. lots of Letha's family came over and it was a very special time.

They begged us to come over the next night too, so we spent the next evening with them too.  Letha's smile in this picture is special, it is meaningful to see the Lord pursuing her and His attempts to help bring healing in her life. She is coming to church with me tomorrow and wants to bring me a pot of Jambalaya!

This is the first team I have worked with from West Virginia they're super special people. God really gave them a meaningful time.
Ronnie, told me that they would take trips to the Grand Canyon to search for God, but while in New Orleans, God showed up everyday. They did not even have to look.
